@PONTO I thought scratching our butts is the most primitive thing? Anyhow, war isn’t living hell, living hell is war. Gr8 job on the pic Brad.

*thinking* I should make a memorial day art page on the forum*thinking*

  2. Nats M. Sky

Sorry for double posting, but I can’t edit anymore. I wanted to update what I said about Google, looks like they just updated their homepage to include a message to our soldiers. Click the link in my above comment to read it.

Edit: Whoops, guess Google just changed their homepage back so the message is once again gone. Weird, huh?

  3. WJUK

Would’ve been cool to have a swf that has the flag slowly raising, that being said I’m pretty sure Brad would’ve been fixated on getting the physics on the flag correct or something.

Anyway, even though I’m British, my heart goes out to all the families that may have lost their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons or daughters. Regardless of nationality.

  4. VideoGuy

That is brilliantly drawn. I’m glad you made something for this, when barely anyone else does anything.

And yes, war is stupid. But we’re basically stuck with it forever.

  5. hamcheese362

good job brad. god bless all of those who gave their lives . . .
PS whats that thing under the flag?

PPS no, but seriously, thank you to all those men, AND women, who gave their lives to protect this country. and for that matter, all those men and women who gave their lives to protect THEIR country.

@fairly: not just men, women too

  6. Neverwinter

@ham: I believe that’s a gun with a helmet over it leaned against the flag pole.

Nice drawing Brad! Anyways, I want to salute those men and women who gave their lives in horrible wars. I for one hate war, and believe it is solely a way for two or more sides to say, “We don’t believe our problem can be solved peacefully!” War is terrible, and sadly it may continue for maybe hundreds of years to come. That is if the United Nations does its job.

    • FairlyObvious

@Neverwinter – Right, because WWII started because the world wouldn’t peacefully bow down to Hitler and people who weren’t of the “Aryan” race wouldn’t just peacefully die.

War is a horrible thing, but sometimes it is necessary. Sadly.

  7. Brad

@PONTO: Not… eating? Reproducing? Artistic expression? Communication? Greed? Power? Trading? Sense of ownership? Pride?

@hamcheese: Thought we had moved passed that as a society… If you have to specifically point out women every time you’ve said man, sexism wins.

@Neverwinter: I love peace and hate war too, but it would be naive to believe that we can always avoid the worst case scenario.

@FairlyObvious: Bush caused EVERYTHING. Read the history books, jeez.

  8. PinkSombrero

I just thought id bring up the topic of the Pacifist ships getting attacked in israel last night. I dont know much bout it, and im too lazy to google, but thats sick. And great pic brad, i like his puffed chest 😀

My condolences to all the fighters.

  9. wallross

Yesterday you were a soldier on the front line, today, front lines are history

It’s no different to when, during WWII, the Germans sunk English import ships that were stranded when the Thames froze over.
Those vessels sunk by Israel were humanitarian supply ships.

    • FairlyObvious

I just wanted to point out that the humanitarian ship that was boarded apparently held about 100 jihadists that were armed with knives, clubs, what look like malotov cocktails, etc. Also when the israel ship was nearby the people on the “humanitarian” ships started yelling battle cries and such.
Apparently there wasn’t that much “aide” on the ship. Btw anyone who is breaking through a blockade to give aide is NOT going to want to bring attention to themselves. This is just a major stunt to make Israel look bad.

  10. hamcheese362

@fairly… I”m not sure what you want me to cut out…. of course WWI&II killed a lot of ppl, i never said that it didnt, and a lot of other things that you’re missing on that list killed too. But remember a lot of ppl died in iraq cuz of bush. and come on, i even payed salute to ppl from OTHER COUNTRIES.

@brad: thanks for backing me up lolz 😛 oh and how is including women after a say men sexist? I’m pretty sure thatd anti sexist but hey, one can’t ALWAYS be right

@both of y’all: PLEASE don’t start a disagreement cuz of me!!! this is the only time i’ve seen you two communicate through the site (cuz of me OMGBBQOMG!!!!) but please don’t go into disagreement… please…

  11. Brad

@hamcheese362: *facepalm* Let me try that again… ‘Bush caused EVERYTHING, including: slavery, extinction of the Dodos, the Civil War, hunger, poverty, radiation poising, and Will Ferrel. It’s true because the Internet said so!’

And it’s sexist because you’re assuming that whenever someone says ‘men,’ they’re acting like women don’t exist to any useful quality. Like assuming that every single person in the South is a racist hillbilly. Just another -ism, really.

  12. Kazeaze64

WHOA WAIT! Extintion of the dodo birds?!? BUSH DID THAT!!!!????
Weird… How did he do that? And why?

oh and the internet can lie Brad. Im not saying its not true, but we dont know for sure…

Will Ferrel, isnt that a famous guy?

  13. FreedomForAll

I’ve heard a little about what Fairly was talking about in her recent post.

The UN is offering to search the ships for weapons materials and such but Israel is telling the UN to just let them do it… not sure if i’m correct, haven’t been able to watch CNN lately. However I’ve stayed pretty up-to-date with the oil spill in the gulf..

In the end it looks like we all just hate the jews when actually the US is just buddying up with the the guys who don’t think the jews should have a state… then again this is only based on what little bits of info I’ve been reading or seeing.

Anyhow I do know that now days the UN is just a bunch of corrupt politicians.

Cave update: too much damn rain…

  14. DaxterSpeed

@FO: And when did this information “pop up”? Israel is planting stuff and info all the time. Almost a whole day have been blacked out about all this. And a whole day is clearly enough to plant weapons.

And Israel has apparently planned their attack for a long while. So they could have been making fake videos and equal for a long time. Most of the stuff they’re “showing” about all this are very, VERY weird.

But there’s proof that could prove that this thing is false too. Only people with power have said that they did wrong and are going back. IE; and famous Swedish writer succeeded to get released, and is now on his way back to Sweden.

Medial power is extremely important when these things happens. Lots of medial power helps a lot.

    • FairlyObvious

@DS- How could they plan this? They don’t control the Turkish ships, that makes no sense whatsoever. Not to mention the rush to condemn Israel WITHOUT all the info is suspect especially the whole equating it to 9/11 bull. What about this would possibly make Israel look good? If they wanted to make themselves look good they’d have filmed themselves being boarded.
And there is audio and video of them being fired on, shouted at, and beaten after they boarded. They boarded to tell them to continue their humanitarian aid delivery on land. Gaza isn’t exactly some happy go lucky land right now.
I’d like to know what information they’ve “planted” exactly.

Eveything is suspect that is being released by everyone, period.

  15. Nats M. Sky

    *big wide-eyed face*
All the commenters are scaring me!
    *sucks thumb*
Pwease be nice to each other or i’ll cry, and you wouldn’t want that!

Edit: I just don’t want you to attack each other over politics and other things that I will admit I completely don’t understand!

  16. DigThat

I think we can all agree that while war is an abomination, in some cases it simply cannot be avoided. Religious zealotry and terrorism are problems that are WAY beyond simple peace talks.
And Nats M. Sky is right. Let’s try to keep this civil. It hasn’t gotten out of hand yet, but it seems to be sliding in that general direction.
And Fairly, I couldn’t have said it better myself.

  17. Pieman

    Awkward silence…………….

@Kazeaze: It would be even funnier if you understood what I ment. It’s a personal joke, so I don’t expect you to

  18. hamcheese362

nyesss let’s all just forget, mh?

i just think that the world is in crisis and that everything will be ok… someday… but thats my opinion, which usually bursts out into an argument so :/…

  19. jesus_minime

not until judgement day. there is no way man will ever be able to bring peace to the world. it’s just not plausible. man, at heart is evil. there is nothing that can change that. since man is evil, his actions will always reflect that, hence; war.

  20. DaxterSpeed

@FO: Israel have said that they’ve built the camps / prisons they are in now for this one thing. They must have known about this event before they decided to build a prison to keep the convey guys in. Haven’t you read about that?

I can show you some articles about what Israel said about all this.

And on another note of Israels planning is that they also knew all passenger seatings. In the middle of the dark they where able to identify all Swedes. And the Swedish artists (Israel critic) got bullied a lot, and the Swedish writer was handled with care and he didn’t even have to sign the papers ’cause the paper guy liked his books.

(I hope that I haven’t misunderstood you. I already know that the convoy had no idea of this attack.)

    • FairlyObvious

@DS They’re at war, of course they have camps to detain people.
The people in that boat were running a blockade, there is no way Israel had passenger seating unless Turkey was in on it.
Five boats before that one had been disabled, brought to shore, and then led to Gaza so they could make sure the aid went to the citizens and not Hamas.
The organization running the blockade has ties to terrorists. It’s pretty well known.
From what I’ve read of the Swedish account they weren’t on deck they “heard” so in reality they have no idea.
People are forgetting to note that Israel has let aid into Gaza. If a boat refuses to stop they had every right to board and make SURE there wasn’t anything harmful on board, which there was.
It’s a freaking blockade, it’s like trying to bodily push a bouncer out of the way. You will get hurt.

  21. hamcheese362

@J_M… well i gots a wierd belief system so… im not gonna get into that… and you mean to tell me that brad is evil?

it’ll all work out, you’ll see.

    -rouge teh bat, SA2B
i think the world will straighten out…

  22. wingdemon

someday the world will be better again…then the government will mes it up again by cloning bush and paying off the nation to elect the clone as president.Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh america, you cant help but hate to love it, yet love it all the same, for love is hate, and i love america.:)

  23. DaxterSpeed

@FO: It still wasn’t any blockade. Okay, maybe there was something hiding under the normal aid. I can’t stand for what everybody brought into the boat. But what I can stand for is that the main reason for the convoy to get there was to aid Gaza.

Of course, Israel might have known somebody on the boat that would do anything to get weapons to Hamas, but if they’ve checked the boat (which they did, during a night with complete silence from everybody on the actual ships) then the could release the convoy again.

And Israel’s boarding was whacked out. Soldiers are complaining about passenger defending each other, when the soldiers board the ship while pointing guns in every passengers face. Wouldn’t you try to defend yourself if you had a gun in your face?

There’s of course something odd in both stories. The separation on passenger was really odd. As people that would be more or less able to fight was in one boat.

I can agree on some things you say. But you make it seem like everybody on that boat was ready to smuggle weapons to Hamas. While most of the passenger in the convoy was just trying to aid Gaza, while not knowing of any secret plans. And if there where any secret plans, then I can understand some of Israels actings. But the soldiers killing people just like that seems odd. As stated, the soldiers knew most of the passengers, and was able to identify them pretty easily. So neutralizing one target would have been simple for them. But killing is going a little bit over the top.

And my biggest problem with Israels story is that it’s completely made up. You can hear how everybody speaking for Israel is just pumping out lies. And all truths they might say gets covered in their own lies.

(I also like how we’re having a completely different discussion then everybody else)

    • FairlyObvious

Wasn’t any blockade? What does that mean?

And they had PAINTBALL rifles, they didn’t pull their handguns until after one of their men was knocked unconcious and another one was trampled.
They asked the boat to stop because it refused to go by land so they boarded to inspect cargo. They didn’t have weapons drawn they were grappling down and they were yanked from the ropes and beaten. They had BOTH hands on the rope, no guns drawn.

Gaza has been firing on Israel and there has been blockade for three years to prevent long range missiles that are only transported by boats.

The organization trying to run the blockade has known terrorist ties. That’s more then enough reason to merit a boarding.
Israel has been letting aid into Gaza they are just monitoring that goes in there because missiles have been smuggled in.

  24. DaxterSpeed

Israel making up evidence you say? How can we prove that you say:

    http://i.imgur.com/u9Kul.jpg

Yup. They’ve found / made up evidence long before their actual attack. Just in case they wouldn’t find enough crap.

Some journalist found this, and somebody else made that picture. And how did the journalist figure it out? Well, he recognized the picture form another article.

Hellz Yeah Israel. Even though you tried doing something that was right and even legal when you started, you had to make up evidence too! That’s the way of handling things!

    • FairlyObvious

@foony- we aren’t duking it out, at this point we are just on a difference of opinion.

And them using paintball guns is a well known thing, it’s a non lethal way to control crowds. They thought they were boarding a peaceful ship, they weren’t. The way the Swedish media is covering this is completely different then the way it’s being covered. Our media jumped on Israel too but now they’re backpedaling with all the info that’s coming out. I’m not sure what info is coming into Sweden but I know they are using different language. We’re using “pro Palestine activist” and they’re using “humanitarians” so idk. I just know what I’ve been reading and what I’ve been seeing so I am where I am.

Btw they did have a right to board them, that’s already been established, even if they were in international waters.

  25. DaxterSpeed

Well, I’ve now seen an investigation of Israel’s published “evidence” of the attack. And what it’s so obvious is that Israel is just f*cking up. They publish evidence for normal people to see, but when you watch the Exif info you see that not only are the pictures old, but most of them are also photoshopped. Just look at that stream of pictures. There’s one with a man holding a knife, but the picture has been photoshopped. But not only that, but the picture was taken day time, while the attack happened during night.

There’s 2 pictures taken at the attack, that aren’t photoshopped, and those pictures are of “weapons” (a pipe and another picture of kitchen knifes).

And Israel will never have the right to directly attack people. Even though they got (false) video evidence of them calling the peeps on the boat.

But how about the people that got killed? Well, let’s compare the weapons of use:
    http://motbilder.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/weapons.jpg
As not mentioned in the picture, the saw was used to cut pipes to use as weapons. ’cause pipes are so much more dangerous then rifles.

Oh, and to show the knife thing:
    http://motbilder.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/fake-idf.jpg

    • FairlyObvious

@ds I’ve seen the reports, I’ve seen the footage, it’s a difference of opinion, that’s all. All I know is everyone that was anti-Israel on this is flipping bc of evidence released. I haven’t changed my opinion and you aren’t going to change yours. We’re at stalemate.

Btw, it has been established they had a right to board the boat.

      But we’re still at stalemate.

  26. Pieman

DON’T PRESSURE BRAD. And if you’re gonna whine about a late report, go whine in the prog. report 12 topic, not the MEMORIAL DAY MEMORIAL.

  27. wingdemon

what did FFF say??? oh and:http://imgur.com/tgNni.png. sorry fairly, but i side with DS. and ya can’t blame media stream for the reason you guys disagree. since im in the us too (Dallas, tx) and i still side with DS. Israel wasn’t the victim, they’re acting like little schoolboys pretending to get hurt so they get better treatment.(or they’re enemies get worse)

    • FairlyObvious

@wingdemon – I’m with DS on this one. That, in reality, says absolutely nothing . . . there is no source, no webpage, no pictures . . .

(This is mostly a repeat of what I said DS just at wingdemon)

Though I regret that people were shot and killed on the flotilla, since Israel and Egypt were enforcing a blockade they did have every right to board the ship. Blockades are legal.
I also can’t go after Israel because they are the #1 supplier of aide to Gaza, no one talks about that much. And now Hamas is REFUSING to allow Israel to bring that aide into Gaza until Israel and Egypt stop the blockade. Basically, Hamas is going to prevent the people of Gaza getting the aide they need because they aren’t getting the aide THEY need.
And Israel has been demonized from accusations they harvest Palestinian organs (untrue) to the accusation they want Gaza to starve and rot (also untrue).
It’s very hard for me to take photoshop accusations seriously considering all the 9/11 truthers who claimed photos taken of planes going into buildings was photoshopped. Not to mention the Armenian controversy that haunts Turkey but NO one is allowed to speak of that! The Turkish people onboard were IHH who are major Jihad enthusiasts who have stated they wish to die as martyrs.
Also one of the actual leaders of the group on the boat stated they would keep going until they were disabled or boarded. They were well aware they would be boarded. No person can think they can violate something like a blockade and not a) be boarded or b) have to deal with soldiers ready to defend themselves.

I want to know where everyone was when Gaza attacked Israel, what about North Korea SINKING a South Korean ship? This whole media circus is RIDICULOUS considering all the other hell that has been going on, NOW they get riled up?

      Blah, that was a rant.

btw there was a reason DS and I called a truce on the argument. Right now there is not enough evidence to convince a person who is on Israel’s side and to convince a person who is on Turkey’s side. So . . . yeah, stalemate.
