World 1 Remix, Out Now!

I need your help! If you enjoy the game, please rate on Kongregate!

You read it! The World 1 Remix is out now on Kongregate! Already know World 1 backwards and forwards? Good! There’s plenty of new surprises to see, with more content incoming!

I’m also doing something completely new for me, I’m attempting to monetize the game straight in Flash, using Kongreage.com’s Kreds currency. You can buy a key in the game to help support development of future games (World 4!) and get premium content and levels in this game. I put a lot of effort into making the premium levels and items special, and they’ll give you a peek at some newer features that I’ll be expanding on in later games. You will also keep all items in future games, so you’ll get a ton of use out of those new hats and pants!

One key will unlock every door in the Remix, but you can also buy a Fancy Key that acts like a season pass, it’ll also work in future Fancy Pants games. If you’re feeling extra fancy, there’s also more valuable keys to support Borne Games even further. Think of it like a Kickstarter within a game!

How well the keys monetize will directly affect how much I can support the Remix post launch. I’d love to add things like local multiplayer, extra levels, who knows? So, if you’ve enjoyed the Fancy Pants Adventures Flash games so far, please consider making a purchase! The normal Key is 20 Kreds (about 2 USD) and 50 (around 5 USD) for the Fancy Key. The quality of my next games will be directly related to how well the keys do, so please help spread the word!

I appreciate everyone who plays my games, but I want to give a special thank you to all the players who have been there since the first Fancy Pants Adventures, you’re the reason the series has continued and become what it is today, this game’s for you especially!

  • Awesome, the best series of stick figure platformers just keeps on growing! I’m hoping someday one of your games will get more playthroughs on Armorgames than World 2, because I’m a bit disappointed that World 3 didn’t surpass it back when it was launched.

Either way, I’d like to continue to help you work on the games as much as I can. FPA’s been one of my favorite platformers for a while now, and it’s time I show my appreciation by helping you out whenever I can. And maybe, just maybe… I’ll be able to wear my coveted Mister Hat Man.

  • I have a question, are you planning to put the World 1 Remix on Newgrounds for example?

    • Yeah I’m going to spread it out eventually. Was hoping to have a better advertising solution before then, my few leads are taking longer than I thought. So I’ll have a full build up on the site and on Kong for a bit longer, make sure all the bugs are out and a bit more content is in there, then do the usual.

  • I played the remix yesterday and wow, there are so many improvements

Platformwise this is fantasitc, level 3 and onwards definitely saw an improvement with the pencil mechanics and the rotating platforms were a nice addition.

Secrets were cleverly hidden as well, which I like, and finally the pencil weapon is satisfying and easy to use! I also like how you can use the aerial attack to gain some altitude, really useful and adds depth. And finally fancy pants doesn’t stop running when he hits a wall, that helps alot keeping the gameplay smooth! ;-) The only thing I don’t understand is why I can’t do the down and up variation when doing the wall jump anymore :er: (at least I assume the down jump isn’t there, my down key is broken), those added some nice variation to world 3 at least.

The new boss battle is much more enjoyable than the original, but maybe a bit too similar to the world 2 boss battle in my eyes. Having to break the pencil tip to defeat the pencil was smart, but from an artist’s perspective, I can’t help but feel terrible when I am forced to constantly break the tip on purpose

My only major complaint is the bugginess though, I had to restart the game 3 times because of game breaking issues :? once due to a misinterpreted collision detection (which forced fancy pants to run at a slanted angle downwards through ground and everything…), once when trying to kill one of the mice (both of us completely froze), and lastly when I tried to use the pencil right after finishing the game (fancy pants entered an endless cycle of slashing his pencil while having a green head with no hair) :er: I hope these can be fixed somehow!

Overall, great remix with great gameplay and a great soundtrack, plus having a great boss battle with great platforming mechanics and great secrets but with great game breaking bugs…
    …great

PS: Nice touch to add all the bornegames forum members in the credits (recognized quite a few names), we will continue to support the fancy pants adventures until the end of the world! :fpm:

  • Alright, finally!! It was about time!! Oh, I would’ve seen this earlier, but I had school in the morning, then I had to study History and walk my dog, etc. I’m gonna go test it right now (finally, it’s like half past six over here!). Well actually, I’m gonna go check the forumz first  . Then I’ll test it. Then I’ll give you some feedback.

  • Fantastic game!

Loved all the well hidden secrets, the pants can get so fancy now! (But where is the 3rd bonus color!?!)

Trying to use the pencil after I first got it froze the game, took a couple of refreshes before it worked.

  • There ya go, rated it 5 stars (and reported a bug!)!

  • Brad — Great Remix! I really like level 3. It brings me back to those old super mario levels that scroll or fall away. The pencil drawing the level is a nice touch and I really hope you will make a challenge level with that concept!

Here is my quick play through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbqYKeIRhmo

Thank you for the shout out on the alpha play through… maybe we’ll find that box of codes (and more importantly kittens) in World 4?!

    Stay Fancy! :fpm: Duron

  • Yes, the remix is finally out!
One problem, though. I’m not sure if I’d be able to throw any money at it. I’d have to ask my gramps.
If I ever do get to throw some cash your way, I would most definitely enjoy every second of it.
I’ve been here since the adventures began, and I’ll be here for everything else.
Also, good luck on World 4. I’ll be looking forward to it! :woot:

  • Really enjoying the Remix! Just curious, any plans of bringing it and other FPAs to other platforms (like Steam or iOS). I’d be willing to shell out a couple dollars there to play them on my phone or in the Steam client.

    Great work!

  • Hey, Brad. Great game! You never disappoint. I just have two questions.

How many colors, hats, and patterns are in the game right now? (I bought a key, if that helps.)

If you don’t want to answer that right now, can you at least tell me if the black pants are currently in the game?

Thank you. Great game, again.

    • Let’s see, 3 unlockable colors, 11 hats (including key hats), and 4 patterns (1 key).

No black pants yet, have to save some for World 4, since the unlockables carry over.

      And thank you!

      • Thanks for the reply! I was wondering if there was anything I hadn’t found yet.
Keep up the great work! I can’t wait for the black pants. ;-)

      • Hey brad, I jusst played the remix, it was great. I’ve bought the door. eerything looks beautiful, gameplay is smooth. The nteractive levels are unnique, and the secrets mostly well hidden. (I’m looking at tyou spring.)

just a thing to think about for w4. Make the black pants really hard to get. Just like on world 2. :)

  • Mr. Brad, I was kinda wondering (this is totally unrelated to World 1 Remix) why Cutie Pants was removed from World 3. I mean, we saw your demo footage and everything! But, will she, and maybe other members of the “Fancy Family” be included in World 4?

PS. Great job on World 1 Remix. Will multiplayer ever be available for the remix?

    • I think I responded to the question above…

But yeah, there should still be multiplayer in the Remix. The level reacting to you, though, makes it a bit more difficult than just throwing another player in there.

  • I have to admit, I was at first upset about you resetting my juggling hi-score on kongregate of 107, but then came the most divine of powers and lifted me to a whole new level…

206… and it only took me 3 tries… take that! :D

(…it’s gonna get reset when the next inveitable patch comes up, isn’t it? :( )

  • Locked doors lead to new hats and pants!

I’ll definitely have to think about that, I think that this method gives the most bang for the buck, though. I’ll be experimenting over the next few games, though.

It’s locked to Kong at the moment, but I’ll be looking into all my options.
