That would require a pretty complex physics engine. It's possible, but it's certainly more complex than just using slope detection to align the gravity.

Yeah, but I'm a pretty big math/physics person, so I already though out the basic code for such a system. The only question is how cpu friendly it would be as it would require ~10ish hittests per frame.

This goes along with my suggestion,I think you should have him orient himself so he's standing perpendicular to the ground.
Using this you could add in the ability to run upside down.(around the circle for instance). If you would need any help doing this then I would have no problem giving you some pseudocode/helping.

Nice. It's really come a long way from that original demo you showed us with the green monster enemy. That's quite a price, although I guess you could make a pretty good game using an engine like that. I like the integration with Box2D, although you can't really play with the crate physics in this one.

[edit] How bout that, I just broke 2000 posts!

I've finished the initial development of the Citrus Engine, a side scrolling game engine built for developers. There is a demo on the website:

http://citrusengine.com.

If any of you are students, you can download the code for free with proof of a student ID or semester schedule. It's ActionScript 3.0, just so you know.
