This might not be related at all, but I got a boot-cd of linux with a magzine. When you pop that in your pc, and you start it up, you press F12 or so, and you can choose between different drives. When you choose C://, it runs windows, when you choose the cd, it runs linux. Maybe you can have 2 HDD's, one windows, one mac. Or you can have one 1TB HDD for storing pictures and stuff, and two 64GB SSD's for the OS, one for mac, one for pc. That way, you can transfer files between your 2 OSs. Also, a SSD for the OS really speeds up the bootup time

I think a Hackingtosh includes every computer that's not a Mac but has OS X installed on it, which seems is what you're trying to do. And Apple doesn't want that, so I figure they tweak their installation program to block specific hardware (aka hardware that's not used by Apple). I think a VM would be your best option at this point.

Also, what kind of school uses software that only works on a Mac?

That's interesting, I'd have thought Apple would've tried to push some 64-bit stuff.

Apple's been pretty seamless about 32 bit vs 64 bit. I believe the core duos were the only CPUs that were 32 bit, but they all can run 32 bit natively. The only problem was the 32 bit EFI, which my 1.1 Mac Pro has, so I can address more than 4 gigs of RAM, but I can't run 64 bit drivers, or something. Unless I technically turn my Mac into a hackintosh and emulate the EFI, but there's not really that many benefits, think I could run more GPUs, but they wouldn't fit anyway, heh.

... I figured out the problem. my Snow Leopard disk is for 32-bit, my computer is 64-bit. I tested disk on virtual machine, it worked fine but VM was 32-bit, not 64.
