The world ending in 2012 is always a distinct possibility, but a very infinitesimally small one (frankly, I don't believe a word of it).
It also depends on your definition of 'world ending'. Do you mean the world of humans? Or the whole Earth just splitting apart and ricocheting out into the galaxy?

It wasn't Nostradamus who predicted this particular apocalypse, it was the Mayans. And they didn't predict it as such, it just so happens that this was when their calendar finished. We don't expect the world to end every 31'st of December, do we? Just because their calendar is a pretty long one doesn't make it different.
The Mayan calendar works on the same principle as an odometer in a car. As each digit hits the end of it's base (I think they used base 20 for most of their numbers),the next digit rolls over to show a one. Eventually car odometers hit something like 999 999, and the Mayan calendar will show 2020202020 (or something similar), which just happens to be Dec 22nd 2012. At which point the Mayans,(if they still existed) would throw away their old calendars and start a new one, like we do every year.

World better not end before the next round of consoles come out, bah.

@Brad:Correction, it better not end before FPA on iOS comes out, probably this month. If it's still going to take a while then you could post a series of report for it. I check iTunes everyday for FPA.
