Yea, you need textures for it to look better.

Can you upload textures to sketch up? I thought you could.

You can, but it's not the best system to actually render things in.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I thought so.
But it's still pretty cool how you can upload the files into google earth.
One problem is that you cant see them in flight simulator any more...
I wanted to make a huge airplane course....

You can't see them in the flight simulator? Man, that sucks.
But it's still cool to see the 3D models as you're browsing around Google Earth.

Anyone can put them up at GE? So you can see frozen Velociraptors at the North Pole or somthing?

No.. You can download into GE from the internet, or you can put them in yourself.

You can upload models to Google Earth, but for other people to see them I believe they have to be verified and checked first - by the community. I think so anyway.

So (nearly) everytime you start GE he downloads new models?

I don't think so. I think Google release the models as packages.
If you want 'em.

You can choose to see 3D models or not, and I think they are streamed to you. When you zoom in close enough into a location that has them, they usually appear as geometrical blocks first and then the textures are sent.

I hope one day google makes drone heli's that take pictures of every building and is uploaded into GE. It will be the best thing on the internet since the internet.

As awesome as that would be, you're gonna need quite a bit of cash to do something like that. Especially if you want it in 3D. The software will have to be top-notch as it'd need to calculate geometry and then cut-and-paste the correct texture from pictures.

WJUK, it will be the future. The computing power that google has today will be available for anyone for about 100$.
It will be awesome.

You can use Google's computing power already now. They have the Google App Engine, you can deploy applications written in Python (soon to support other languages) onto their cloud.
And Cloud Computing is the future!

I think that the future is the future. I don't want to be a cloud....

No, cloud computing is a computing paradigm. Where companies essentially set up a host of servers that can be accessed and used by others. The "cloud" in this sense probably refers back to old network diagrams and the fact that the user just puts in input and receives output, they have no idea what happens in the cloud.

Will I have a bionic arm in the future?

No.
I will.

You won't if your arm doesn't get severed off or amputated or something...
