To update this thread, the announcement was the beta for Mirror's Edge 2D, a collaboration between Electronic Arts and Brad Borne, featuring background art from Mike Swain and Mike Castro, and character animation by Mike Miller.

Haha, a bit more info, it's a beta for the game that's been keeping me busy lately. It's a client project, but it's a rather cool client project...

Interesting... I think it's time to throw out some wild guesses!

My guess is: You play a mole. In the times when dwarves have over-thrown the mole government and have taken the mole-king. You lead the resistance forces (which consists of... er... you) and over the course of the game you will make new friends and enemies. So armed with your trusty helmet and pick-axe you venture deep into the dwarven abyss...
