Darn it wjuk, just make a minecraft thread now.

Darn it wjuk, just make a minecraft thread now.

Jeez, looking at what Notch did with Minecraft makes me feel pretty insignificant
There's only a few genres that can really benefit from that much sandboxing (open ended adventure?), but the actual 'adventure' aspect it seems to creates looks to be second to none.
FPA's almost completely the gaming opposite of Minecraft (tightly controlled, meticulously created platformer), but I can't help thinking that there's something to learn here...
Makes me feel a little better hearing that it's based on another game, though, heh.
Yearly posting limit, lawlz, you guys
Maybe I'll be on the forum more often now, dropping hints since i hate keeping secrets :/
More brad on the forum? thats a first.

Post Count: 404 Not Found.
BTW, Brad, you actually hit the top now. According to ancient Maya ideas you won't post more this year.
If Brad says he's going to do something he does it! Like posting an update every friday.... wait. Yeah your probably right, he's not coming back.

@Brad: I know what you mean. It's quite amazing what he's managed to do. He deserves his break to play Civ V. And reading your post reminded me of something Will Wright said, it went roughly like this: "The reason sand-box games are so popular nowadays is that when you do something cool, it was you, not the developers that made it happen. And no one can take it away from you." And Minecraft takes it to the extreme, you can do as you like from the onset. I know someone who plays it exclusively for the exploration aspect and loves the random generation, whilst others use it to build epic fortresses etc. The possibilities are endless.
Anyway, maybe I should make a minecraft topic. We've derailed this thread completely.
On-topic: BRAD, WHERE IS DEMO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
If so, WJUK would already have it. (Remember Fraser's Ride?)
@DS: Sssshhhh, the newer members don't know about that. And what has happened with FR?
Wjuk wouldn't tell you if he did. Because he knows we'd pressure him into showing us.

Still waiting for that post ...
He played an alpha build.
@j_m: Oops, didn't notice your post (somehow).
It's pretty much out there now, somewhere on the forum, but it is true that I played a very early version of it.
I liked it. There were two control schemes (Brad recommended one, but the game itself recommended the other, if I recall).
It was unfinished at the time (there were no level transitions and you couldn't "end" a level properly) but most of the basics were in. It even had a cutscene that was really good.
And I, stupidly, didn't download the .swf file when I had the chance. It was up on Brad's site for a bit, but then he took it down after I alerted him about a way of accessing some potential World 3 demo content through Google Search.
@WJUK: I remember playing that World 3 stuff. Was it the one with CPG running through the golf course of world two?
I remember that, I think I still have it on my compy too.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait patiently for a "real" demo to appear somewhere.
WJUK, I now hate you. Your a meanie. Go knock yourself out until you get amnesia and forget what you played.

@wr: Yes, I believe it was. I believe I posted the link on ROTFL LMAO.
@j_m: Here's to hoping!
@liphttam1:
WJUK, I triple facepalmed after your last post.
Just sayin'.
You must log in to post.
