I've stopped playing Halo, and now I've picked up New Vegas. It's actually, to my surprise, is a fantastic game. I'm not an RPG type person, but this game has really appealed to me. This is probably due to my adventurous nature.
There is so many ways to play this game that I get overwhelmed at times. I felt like creating this topic to discuss the fabulous world of Fallout!

I played F3 before which was pretty nice except for the CTD's. Thinking about giving NV as hot after my exams.

I've played Fallout 1 & 2 and they are extremely good (if you're into the old-style isometric RPG kind of thing).
I've neglected to pick up Fallout 3 and NV properly simply because I know I'd do the same thing as I would with Oblivion... play it to death.

Everyone seems to compare it to oblivion. Are they that similar?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Well, it's easier to compare Fallout 3 with Oblivion because they were both made by Bethesda (with the same engine I believe).
Fallout 1 & 2 are a different matter altogether.

WJUK- NV is legitimately worth playing to death.

Nevada?
Oh wait New Vegas, Just figured that out.
Remember, easy mode saves lives.

NV was made by the original developers I believe (which explains all the bugs) in the same engine as Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
But yea, if it's anything like the first 2 games, the dry and dark humour will be hilarious.

Please tell me it's not built on a beta version of the .NET-framework any longer...

I played Fallout 3 and I think it was a very good game.

@Nyubis: I've never heard of that? I know the Gamebryo engine is written in C++, but have never heard of it on the .NET framework.

I've read the PC version of Fallout 3 was built upon a beta version of dotnetfx... Can't seem to find it anymore but still a lot of reports about CTD's related to .NET stuff. Which are basically the reason I stopped playing F3.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fallout on the PC employed the use of the .NET framework to standardise some tasks. But using a BETA version can't be right, surely?

Fallout 3 Installer installs a Beta release of DOTNETFX3.0 (.NET Framework 3.0).

Weird. There shouldn't be that big of a problem now, since that post was dated 2008. .NET Framework 3 is definitely out, if I recall correctly. I believe .NET framework 4 is out too.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean F3 gets auto-updated, right?

.NET framework itself should auto-update.

I don't know what all this .NET jumbo is, but my cousin is convinced that the same engine that was used in Oblivion is used in NV. I don't doubt that.

It is the same engine essentially, but with a few tweaks.
