So, one thing that I've been continuously asked about (besides a 'Dark Pants' villain, heh) regarding Fancy Pants is having some sort of custom level editor. That's not something that's very feasible, since everything I make is very simply drawn into Flash movie clips, with smaller clips like squiggles and baddies copy and pasted around.
But, during the development of World 3, I got the level files loading externally, so that I didn't need to re-export everything just to test a level, and that's got me thinking. Technically, anyone could make their own level files using almost any version of Flash, and load them from a special shell swf. Would be as simple as editing a sample fla and adding the address of the file to the shell swf.
So the question is, would you guys be interested in me making such a thing available? There's a lot of limitations with the engine, but it would be super interesting for me to see what you guys could come up with.
Do enough of you have a version of Flash that you could use to make levels? Do enough of you care? heh
To this day, I do really enjoy playing FPA, but playing my own levels gets pretty boring. I'd love to play something new that I hadn't seen before. Heck, could go so far as to make your own baddies, without me.
So, what you guys think?
