But brad chose me as a mod..
lol JK man.
So no one knows how to interface with a mySQL database from Flash? Hmm...
@brad, dax might.

Why do you need to do it? :/ then again, I'm not looking at previous posts. Is this something for the forum, or the beta?
Integrating flash with an SQL database? Sounds interesting.
There's bound to be some sort of library/plug-in for something like that.
I see.. Says the blind man.
(oh I haven't said that in a while.)
As he picked up his hammer and saw!
Well done coolnesiac.
I shall continue.
He bellowed in pain as the needle stuck into him, and he fainted.
While he fainted, his life flashed before his eyes.
Then he saw a cat underneath him, just as he fainted, and quickly jumped to his feet.
offtopic mod is offtopic.

Um, no, offtopic is not a mod, last time I checked.

If I do a closed beta, I can lock it to site logins, give custom access (of course you would all be in
). If I can save and load to the database, I can put save files there tied to everyone's login, so you could play where ever and still have your progress and options, since World 3 is so long.
So I think I've figured out how to access the database in PHP and pass variables in on login (profile, settings, that sort of thing), I just need to figure out how to write functions in PHP that can be called from Flash to pull in data on demand, which is pretty much what we did in ME2D (though I didn't program any of that).
Think about the possibilities, though, everyone on the forum could be making custom levels as I build a game (probably not FPA, something tilebased). High score lists just for the site, things like that.
Tell me those possibilities aren't incredible
Well, you get the person who helped you program it for ME2D of course then!
The people I think could do it though would be
Dax
Or
Zatipnis.
Dax is the max lol XD

@Brad:
I'm fairly sure it's possible. Perhaps not as a direct link, but maybe with a secure php script as gateway? Then again, I'm not sure whether Flash can send data over https.

That sounds very cool. But I hope it's not taking away time from making World 3.
Does it have to be PHP? If so, DS or VG (I'm sure someone could get in touch with him somehow) would be your best bet.
Definitely going to finish World 3 first, heh, guess I haven't played around with making something for fun in quite awhile.
From what I can tell, the easiest / best way to communicate is through PHP scripts, and I've poked around in the site PHP for awhile now, but I'm not very good at actually making something happen. Simply saving and loading stuff seems to be pretty simple, though. For ME2D I'm pretty sure it was just XML being passed around.
EA hired a design contractor to handle that, and I definitely don't have the money to hire anyone myself right now, heh.
