Don't forget, Brad's not the Wordpress/bbPress expert here. It would most likely be me making it and sending it to him to implement. So keep stuff reasonable, everyone.
Is it possible to change the theme on this forum?
Like when you become a member you can choose between different themes themes?
All I know about this is that this forum use a .css theme called kakumei.
You can't choose different themes for each member, but you can change the overall theme of the site. This explains how.
I would do it if I had some of your input.
Nah... This forum looks great.
I just wondered if it was possible for every member to "personalize" the looks of this forum.
Maybe an option to expand the recent topics list, for when the forum gets more active topics.
Hell, you could just put a bar at the bottom and a link to a page with a longer list of recent topics. That would work fine (great even).
I'd suggest(if it were to be changed) that the forum theme would be more lively, not some plain old white, like a colosh of colords, THAT STILL MATCH =p.
~Jack.
The problem with that is that people still love this theme.
And the Goggle image is still going to have white background...
1.if the theme did change i think it should have FPM in it.
2.i would like a fetcher that lets you stop surten topics from going on to the recent topics page. so if i did't want to see anything to do with this topic (hypoghetically) i could click a button on it and it would not show up again. (this may be to hard , i don't know)
3. it would be nice if there was a button on each of the topics in the recent topics section that brings you right to your last post that way you can read everything that has been said form you last post with out looking for it.
4.how about some sort of thing where there is never just one post on the latest page of a topic. i always find that annoying.
@Orange:
1. Would a little image of FPM in the right, bottom corner do?
2. So if you find something you don't like, you just click a "Ignore" button on the top and the topic wont come up on the latest discussion?
3. Like a follow button? I would love to have a follow button.
4. So on a new page, it displays the five latest posts from the previous page?
@DaxterSpeed: yes to all.
Edit: oh i just thought of another thing. I tend to post and then want to go back to the main forum page, but the link is at the top of the page so i have to scroll all the way up. It would be nice if there was another one at the bottom.
Edit: just thought of another two.
1. I sometimes want to quote someone in the middle of my text. the quote button is great but it erases anything i already typed. It should just add the quote to the end of what i have written.
2.the edit page should be on the bottom of the regular page instead of on it's own. That way when you are editing you can see what others have said and quote them.
for most of these there are work arounds but it would be nice if it were easier.
1. You mean like making the markup codes under your post click-able? So when you click one the markup comes up. Or that that quote button just doesn't reload the page.
2. I don't know if that's possibly, but I think it is.
Actually, I was just reading that other topic and a spoiler tag would be great. Maybe it just changes the colour of the text within the markup to white (which should be simple enough).
I made spoiler thingy:
Hover mouse to see spoiler!
I made spoiler thingy:
Hover mouse to see spoiler!
The thing is, that seems a roundabout way of doing it. It takes a while to type and is overall more trouble than it's worth. And besides, if someone accidentally rolls over it with the mouse, the spoiler pops up! It's a temporary solution at best.
Since we talk a lot about games/movies/books, aka things with a narrative, we're bound to have spoiler alerts somewhere. So, like I suggested, an easy fix is just to change all the text within the spoiler tag into white.
And yea, if possible <spoiler>INSERT SPOILER HERE</spoiler>. That would be great. Unless you have to stay with HTML, then the colour tag is fine too I guess.
Observe WJUK, the color must be coded after the background of your post. Half of the posts are grey, and the rest of them white.
And stupid people wouldn't understand that hey have to look at the post above to know what color your posts BG will have.
Other: Is it possible to use font tags here?
i have seen some forums that have spoiler tags where you just type something like
<spoiler>INSERT SPOILER HERE</spoiler>
and it puts the text in to a black box so you can't see it. If you highlight the box the text can be seen. I don't know if we could have something like that but if not then WJUKs idea sounds good.
@DS: Oh well yea, you could also code into the <spoiler> tags that makes the fill background to white as well I guess. Another way would be a javascript link sorta thing, that either expands when clicking on it or maybe opens up a pop-up box. That wouldn't be too hard to code actually.
@Orange: Yea, on some of the other forums that utilize BBCode; they have [spoiler]INSERT SPOILER HERE[/SPOILER] tags.
I did some hunting on bbPress.com, and here's what I found.
http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/post-edit-look-behind/#post-2180
http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/ajaxed-quote/#post-1859
http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/spoiler-bar/#post-2142
I recommend going to bbPress.org/plugins and seeing if anything else looks good to you, so Brad can do a mass update someday.
What I want to know is why this page (which doesn't use any Javascript), always triggers a JS error in Firebug.
Awesome finds!
