This topic is for everything about google and it's projects. We keep talking about it in other topics so i thought i would make this one.
i am not sure if this should be in serious business, but i guess it should.
Let's begin with the Google OS.
I think that the OS will be a success, but it won't ever become as popular as Windows. Probably not even as popular as Mac or Linux.
Mostly because:
-They are just to late to make a HUGE impact
-It's based on Linux. If they would make it all by there own it would be a bit cooler.
-They aren't making a lot of noise about it.
Of course there are more reasons why the Google Chrome OS won't be big. But those are the things that first came to my mind.
1.they are late in a time line of tech that goes from anywhere (when?) you want to today, but if the timeline goes from lets say the first Operating System to 50 years from now then its not so late.
2.yes it would be cooler if it was based on Linux but most people don't really care on know about that sort of thing so that should not stop it from getting big.
3.they are not making lots of noise yet, but that is because they don't have any cool stuff to show off yet. when they get it done (or closes) they will put a like on Google for a week or two, and i would call that "a lot of noise".
I didn't even know about COS till one of you guys started about it...
If any other company was making an OS, I'd write it off as a failure already as MS are so dominant in the market already.
But Google stands a chance due to it's size and ability to incorporate web apps etc.
And who wouldn't want to have a BIG Google logo to show up when starting your computer?
hey i just remembered this.

it's called GOS but it's not made by google. it has been out for some time now.
i think this could be something like what GOS is going to be.

The site's down.
O3D is pretty interesting.
I wanna see native client in action, but compiling python doesn't really sound appealing to me, just for a plugin.
GOS is a Linux distro for webapps, not google owned, but a interesting concept.
Google chrome OS sounds even better, considering they can tie in things like native client, gears, and O3D, to make one awesome OS.
Android might run into some trouble, but I think android will probably remain a phone OS, while chrome enters the netbook market. a sort of brother sister setup, like windows mobile vs XP.

It would be funnier if it loaded the logo of the day from Google's site.

Best, logo, ever.
Oh yeah, I saw that one a few days ago. It was for ComicCon, right?
Not for me. That GOS seems kinda interesting, but nothing big.hey i just remembered this.

I think there is some freedom in it, but they may have.
Also depends whether or not Google made the logo their selves.
Maybe one of the dc artists did the logo as some sort of gesture, that or they just did it because DC allready probably worked some sort of deal for the igoogle themes, so them doing a logo was fine.
Good news guys! https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/index.html
Heh, I'll still stick with default. I never use themes for anything.
BORING!
