i'm pretty sure we basically covered it on the main site, thats why it never became a topic. the conversation was over 13 posts after it started. thats why it just got really off topic.

It's for people with no laptop that wanna check their mails and browse the web on a screen bigger than the iPhone.

It's a big toy with a screen. And it's black. And is actually able to help you view the web.
Also, it's 80%+ battery.

personally, i would rather just get a macbook, costs twice as much, but you can do twice as much with it, and for the kind of stuff I use a computer for, you really need a real computer.

Why would we close? Anyways, the thing that i find stupid is that its designed for everyday use (ie. watching movies and crap). Now, how DO you watch a movie? You can torrent/download it illegally, which i wont go further into, but i dont know if you can do that on the ipad. Meh. You can watch a movie via a dvd inserted into a cd drive, now the ipad doesnt have it, meh. SO, why cant we just put the movie on a flash drive? Or attach an external cd drive, and watch it off of there? Because theres no usb port on the ipad. What the hell? So, is the only other option buying the movie off of itunes? Even IF you already OWN the movie, you cant get it onto your ipad? You MUST buy it from apples store because they're evil monsters who want to make you pay for EVERYTHING?
Now, i might be wrong here. I did just search on google to have a quick look at the ipads features again, and it says that the ipad is charged just like ipods are charged, by being connected to PCs, or netbooks, or macs. I just find that slightly demented. So, you want me to buy something to replace my portable/nonportable computer, with something that needs getting charged by one? OH SURE, you can always buy an adapter to charge on an electric socket instead, but thats just more money spent!
And if by chargin your ipad via another computer, itll let you import files onto there, i guess thats okay, i just totally think it would be a lot easier if it had a usb port.
Ah, and i also wanted to point out that not too long from now, theyll be coming up with a totally GROUNDBREAKING NEW PRODUCT WHICH WILL KILL THE NETBOOK, and itll be the same freaking thing as the ipod touch, the iphone, and the ipad, except its going to be "faster" and "lighter" and itll have a "camera" and it'll be "versatile" and itll have a freaking USB port one day. And the day that happens, people are going to be all over Apples shoes shining them with their own sweat and blood crying "ALL HAIL STEVE JOBS, AND APPLE. YOU GUYS TOTALLY PUT SOMETHING THATS SUPPOSED TO BE STANDARD ON A PIECE OF METAL AFTER LIKE, A COUPLE YEARS. YOU GUYS ROCK." And everyones gonna throw their ipads away, and get an iPad mega, or giga, or yotta, or some other bull name.
The thing is, once upon a time apple was awesome and they did cool stuff. They invented and innovated and it was all good. They werent just computers, they were more!
Now, their just milking the cow for all its worth, and selling the milk in bits and pieces. They make you THINK youve got the best piece of metal in the world, but theyve got the rest of it hidden in the closet! And once they think theyve sold enough of the basic hunk of metal, they sell the one with a little bit more, and a little bit more, and a little bit more, and it just rolls that way. I love apple, but sometimes they just tick me off.I also apologize for this wall of text, i feel it was necessary. Meh. Well, i totally had way more stuff to say, but i gotta get ready for piano lessons.

The electrical socket automatically comes with the iPad when you buy it . . .
btw I have a macbook and I'm constantly stealing Brad's iPad because it's a lot of fun to play games on. It doesn't get as hot in my lap, it's a lot less clunky, and the keyboard really isn't that bad. You can connect a mini blue tooth keyboard up to it (which is nice and Brad plans on doing that). After playing around with it a bit, I wanted one. I like the fact that I can read books on it, it will eventually come with adapters which is perfectly fine with me. I don't use my USB port a lot or a SD slot.
It's a bit more student/business friendly then just overall recreational, fine with me.
I can see this being great for textbooks or taking notes during class. It's a lot lighter and slimmer then a laptop so it's not hard to lug around. The iPad actually fits very well in my purse.
I'm not some huge Apple junkie. My parents had one Apple computer when we were kids and then we went through pretty much every computer brand known to man.Every girl loves a man in fancy pants! =)Posted 2 years ago # -
YESSSS IF the electrical socket comes with it then i am perfectly fine with it ^^ Darn gewgle for not helpin me find that.
By the way, i dont mean to sound like some angry butthurt old man, because im not. Sometimes i get riled up on a subject and i just spew and rant and then a couple of hours later i read what i wrote again and i feel bad and yea. I mean, it looks like a cool toy, a cool gadget, whatever. It looks like a good e-reader, note taker, gportable game system, entertainment machine, but its not much more than that.
I DO love the price tag though. Its pretty nice.

Honestly, I stand on both sides of the iPad argument. From one point, it's pretty useful but I don't need one. I mean, I could get 64 gigs on an iPod and save even more money by not paying for the overpriced apps (BTW, most of the apps I've tried on it look worse than they do on my iPod). From another perspective, playing with it for several hours makes it seem like it blows my iTouch out of the water. Now, like PinkSombrero, I love the price, too. It's just that I expected a whole lot more from Apple than this. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't get as much fingerprints (on the back) than my touch thanks to the aluminum (?), but there really isn't much more reason to get one, unless the situation demands a great ebook reader, mega game device, and any other neccesity.
