Water levels are BORING!

No they aren't. Maybe something was burning and FPM had to jump in the water to save himself and Cutie Pants.

But water levels are slow!

There's an unwritten rule with platform games that they have to contain some form of water level. And yet there have not been ANY platform games ever made that make water controls good. I don't see why that should be in FPA, it would only make it worse.

The Sonic water-death countdown music still scares me to this day...

I don't know if water levels HAVE to be that bad. I mean, we could make it work if FPM had a propeller attached to his back or something so all you have to do is go up and down at fancy speed. A bit like one of those side scrolling space shooters (although the shooting part COULD be left out).

Water levels began around the time of Super Mario Bros 1. That was almost 30 years ago. Considering nobody has ever successfully made a water in 30 YEARS gives me little hope that Brad could.

I'm assuming you mean in platforming games only (otherwise I'd point you in the direction of Endless Ocean). Super Mario Galaxy has some great water levels. The manta ray surfing was really fun I thought.

Well, I was only talking about 2D games. 3D games control differently, so they don't really count.
And Manta Surfing wasn't technically a water level.

That's going to sound a little silly: I was like 3 when I played the first Sonic game in Sega Megadrive and I think I had a trauma with that countdown...I still remember it...It still haunts me at night...

@VG: You should've stated that. And by "water level" I just assumed any level where you had some interaction with water. And it is hard to think of a water level that is good in 2D.
@rawcru: Tell me bout it.

I figured since we were considering it for FPA, 2D was implied. Pretty much any 2D interaction with water sucks.

How about a snow level? There could be ice instead of the black slippery stuff.
