Mac is better for developer. (like brad) PC's are better for everyone else. (i.e. Anyone who isn't Brad)
Highly debatable.

The only way you can really complain that Macs are expensive is if you build your own computer.
oh hello...
On Topic: I respect people's opinions when they say they prefer macs but what I absolutely cant stand is mac fanboys (luckily there's only civilized people on this forum). One of my friend's cousin is a mac user, and she (yes she) treats the mac like a god. My friend said to her that she should try getting her hands on a copy of after effects (shes into film making, bit like videoguy
) as she could enhance the effects she uses because she's into the whole special effects part of it all. but, long-story-short, she absolutely refuses as adobe after effects is not made by apple. I mean whats up with that? I guess we are all lucky brad isnt like that. "NU! I AM NOT USEN FLASH IT NO MADE BY APPEL!!" No fancy pants :*(

I should be getting a computer later in the Summer, once I finish this year (still have a 2 week Java workshop).

Not using something because its not made by apple? Thats crazy, I mean I know apple makes a lot of stuff but it cant make everything!
Or can it...Posted 1 year ago # -
well... one day apple will actually make an apple that when eaten replenishes itself... mmmm everlasting apples

You thoughts on this? I guess the rumours were true, and i stay true to the fact that the whole "found iphone4" was a stunt. Anyways. I think apple's great at making infomercials that talk about nothing. Im not a fanboy, and we've been through this before
, but yesh. What do you guys think?

Heh impossible due to mass-energy states of the universe
Honestly I don't care which one I use, as long as it has internet

I use Linux. Distro: Ubuntu. Can't afford a Mac and I dislike windows.

If I joined this discussion I would start arguing with myself
like so:
"ME: I use Windows XP it's awesome
ME: Macs are pretty good too though
ME: they may be even better than Windows
ME: NO they're not, hey just look fancier
ME: they also are pretty stable
ME: so is Windows XP
ME: Macs are better for programmers/artists
ME: But Windows has more resources for it
ME: Well Linux is better anyway
ME: But it's not widely enough supported
ME: So, it has tons of free open source programs you can use, and wine runs lots of windows programs
ME: well, that may be so, but my lame old computer wont run any full-size linux distro decently"
anyway, you get the picture.
bottom line, I can't decide O.oalso FFA, are you from Kansas?

Windows just got the unfair benefit of being the standard an ultra-cheaps PC's, wich is of course the reason for the wider variarity of programs ( including a loooooot of spam, virusses, startup programs) on pc's.
This way, Windows became the basic, and Apple became "expensive".
Sure, you spend some money for shiny stuff, but its just, right, it all works, all of it.
It's just sad that minisoft comes out with a brand new combination of poo and shiny weird things, and realize after ayear or 3, that it's crap, and they start all over again. It's like Apple is a tourist car, wich smoothly drives along the desert(?), and minisoft is a kangaroo, wich jumps next to the car. The kangaroo jumps and takes over the car for just a sec, but then stands still again.
On wich one would you prefer to sit on?Posted 5 months ago # -
I'm sorry, I accidently double posted this one, sneaky ipod

@LifeInAnEgg: Somehow, I find myself having to say that IT ALWAYS DEPENDS ON THE SITUATION. Well, I am not sure why people debate about this, but you buy a computer to suit yourself, and not the computer being designed to suit you. You can't really say Macs or PCs are better than the other. It is mostly based on personal preference of what you want to do with it. Computers are not here to compete. They are here to help us. Hope this piece of advice helps and welcome to the forums(I should have said this in the introduction topic, but oh well)

On wich one would you prefer to sit on?Firstly, I understand where you're coming from but let me address some of the issues you outlined.
They became the standard for a reason, they were one of the first to provide a consumer-based OS able to run on machines available to the general public at the time (obviously MACs where available too). But Microsoft pushed a good marketing strategy at the same time. Once the ball started rolling, there was no stopping it.
When you say "ultra-cheap PCs", you're generalising a bit too much. Depending on specs, you can easily get PCs more expensive than your average Mac. But if you compare something with the same specs, PCs are cheaper, especially if you assemble the parts yourself (which is not possible with Macs). So you get more bang for your buck with PCs!
"Sure, you spend some money for shiny stuff, but its just, right, it all works, all of it."
"Shiny stuff" isn't a justification for the amount of extra money you spend. I agree that Macs (Macbooks especially) tend to have better build quality over your average PC but the price can be quite exorbitant. But Apple have their fair share of problems, there are just as many viruses/trojans/worms that affect Macs but it's up to the end-user to keep their own computer safe. And don't get me started on hardware. Being unable to replace your own battery without sending it back to Apple is not an acceptable business practice. It means you're completely locked to Apple and they have complete control over your product."It's just sad that minisoft comes out with a brand new combination of poo and shiny weird things, and realize after ayear or 3, that it's crap, and they start all over again. It's like Apple is a tourist car, wich smoothly drives along the desert(?), and minisoft is a kangaroo, wich jumps next to the car. The kangaroo jumps and takes over the car for just a sec, but then stands still again."
I regret to inform you but many believe the Windows platform to have some of the best OSs around. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP and now Windows 7 were/are market leaders for a reason; if they were bad they wouldn't have had such a big share. Microsoft pour a lot of money into R&D to make sure their products do well. Sure they have had mis-steps, but that was them trying to innovate rather than staying stagnant. They listen to the consumer and improve their software.
Your analogy also doesn't make any sense. Technology has always improved in leaps and bounds, in a short space of time, it's never a smooth evolution. We could take a look at the Mac OS itself, it stays stagnant itself until the next improved version comes out.All in all, there is a good reason MS has the majority share of the computer market. They worked hard to get to that spot and work even harder to keep that spot.
That being said, Linux support is on the rise. But Windows still have the gaming market completely dominated (especially with DirectX). However they seem to be doing pretty badly on the phone-front. Apple is starting to fall behind too, while Android seems to be on the rise.
