You knowk, this isn't very um.... debate-ish. But I agree with Nyubis. Vista Owns.

There. Thread revived. No point in having two with the same purpose.
I think I've said pretty much all I have to say about Windows. I just find it more organized than Macs.
the other was 4 yelling @ eachother about how great macs *ahem* are.
I use everything
Mostly vista, although that's just because i didn't want to pay for an XP downgrade when I got my current laptop. Incidentally, vista is slower and does crash more often (at least for me) than XP did, but it's nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be. Macs are clearly better for video (and other media) editing, as well as for people who can't handle using firewalls on a windows machine (oh noes, a virus
). And I have to say, Linux (in my case Ubuntu) really is not as challenging as people make it out to be, it's derived from the same OS (Unix) as macs, but it's free! My prefered operating system is either XP or Ubuntu, depending on the task; a machine that dual-boots the two can handle pretty much anything. Also, to those who use bootcamp or run windows in parallel on a mac, congratulations, you just defeated your own "no viruses on macs" argument.
I use a Intel-based Mac with Bootcamp, mac for artistic, and Windows Xp for my internets and gaming. I dont like Mac as much because its mostly non-manual, and i prefer to fix stuff manually. Plus, SWF files run faster on XP than on Mac for me, and when a page takes forever to load on mac, i can fix it on PC.
I'm just sad there aren't more Linux users. Ubuntu is awesome, see the light people! XD
Linux is good, especially for servers.
I USE MS DOS!
MS DOS FTW! COMMAND-LINE INTERFACES FTW!
CMD FTW!
I wonder if Mac's got cmd.
I'm not sure about that. I think MACs have and always will be GUIs. The only reason Windows has command prompt because it's precursor was MS DOS.
DOS made me cry.
CMD FTW!
I wonder if Mac's got cmd.
Yeah, it's called terminal. If you use spotlight and search, you'll find it.
It's basically the same as a Linux command line since their both built on Unix.
Oh, and WJUK, I appreciate my GUI for web-browsing, etc thank you very much.

I HATE fixing things manually. Did it for the 6 years that I used windows.
Yeah, Adobe's fault once again. The Flash plugin for OS X is awful. Any Intel Mac will be fast enough that it doesn't really matter, anyways, but still.
Too many file based stuff that I'd miss if I were using Windows again. Can't live without Exposé, transferring files no fuss between computers with bonjour, or drag and drop everywhere. Might just be cause I'm used to the system, but any time I use Windows I try to do something that works in OS X (spring-loaded folders, some drag and drop stuff) and the system spazzes out on me.
The Mac Pro's current graphics cards options SUCK, however. With Snow Leopard riding so heavily on the GPUs for EVERYTHING (OpenCL), I'm guessing that Apple's going to have to start fixing that once and for all.
And yeah, the idea behind Snow Leopard is incredible.

Haha, but the fact remains that if you know what you're doing on MS DOS (or any command-line interface) than it'd be faster at doing the same operations if you were using a GUI because less interpretation/compiling/assembling is required and the OS wouldn't be piggy-backing your resources so much.
Expose is great and all Brad, but ever since I've been able to drag my windows around like jelly using Compiz Fusion in Linux, I can't go back XD
Agreed on compiz. btw, I enjoy being able to switch between ALL my open windows from the keyboard with alt-tab (probably command-tab on macs, i don't remember), not only whichever window from the app is on top. Oh, and windows-tab serves the same purpose as expose, if slightly less effectively.
That's my real complaint with Macs, they aren't very organized. Like when I'm working with Photoshop on a PC, I can just hit minimize and the whole thing goes away. With Macs, you have to minimize every single window, which seems like it would be a real pain. And then they all stack up in the startbar-equivalent thingy. Plus you have to resize them one at a time. Just doesn't seem very efficient.
I've actually set my compiz up so when I press alt tab, all my windows fly into the centre of the screen to form a ring which I can then spin around and select windows. Makes Vista's windows-tab look boring
That sounds awesome. And here I am thinking Windows-Tab is awesome.
How did you do that, anyway?
1. Get the "compiz-settings-manager" package for Linux
2. Turn on "Ring Switcher" in the CompizConfig Setting Manager (System > Preferences)
If you think thats cool, you should see how multiple desktops can form a cube, then you can rotate around that cube as all the windows spring off it in 3D.
Yes, it's completely pointless and you could just switch between desktops the boring way, but it looks so awesome XD
Yes... I'm not a Linux fanboy...
