You don't have to record in HD, doesn't make that much of a difference with minecraft. Everything is blocky anyway.
I just tried out the free version of Minecraft... It seemed okay, but it wasn't really my thing. You guys said it was a good time waster, but the thing is, I don't have that much time to waste.
[EDIT] Can I just ask, who here as the paid-for version, and who here plays classic?
@WR, uhm, WJUK, Me, DS, Pinky, Nyubis (to an extent...) and Liphttam (i think) have it.

@WR: Nobody plays classic, alpha is much much more fun.
Yeah, Classic is really boring. I might get alpha though if I get any money... Is it worth it, having all the creatures and being able to die?
yes. it is.

@WR: The most interesting is being able to make tools and weaponry.
I find the most interesting parts to be harvesting resources to create structures and exploring new regions/caves.
i second WJUK.

Just the satisfaction you get when you step back and gaze upon your realm of awesomeness is brilliant. Especially after a big project (like a floating island!).
It's like the feeling of finally solving a really hard problem.
How did you even do that anyway?
@Nyubis, make a few towers to the sky, make your island, then mine away the tower...well thats what i would do.

Classic ain't that bad, I have a modded version myself. I used it to create a somewhat floating island. I'm gonna throw this level into Alpha soon to use the more advanced light and water engine.
Hmm. Ross, I guess I could lend you my account for a day or two. You'd just need to sign in on minecraft.net with my password/account and download the .jar. And then you can play around until you decide to buy.

@Nyubis: Pretty much what WD said, although I placed a portal down as well.
@WJUK, portals? how do you make portals to other places on the map?

I guess he made 4 portals, one on the mainland, one in the Nether where the mainland one enters, another in the Nether that gets you to the island, and a last one on the island.
Basically what Nyubis said, although you need to rework it a little due to portal duping.
Is it possible to make a horizontal (floor) portal?
I guess not but I'm just asking.
