i got the three central characters mostly done, the middle one is my main character, the one on the left is his best friend, and the girl is the best friends sister.

the left one
powers- basketball themed
high jump, faster, throws a basketball

the middle one
powers- wii themed
wiimote sword, wiimote gun, wiifit board skate/snow/surf board, wiimote and numchuck t-bar type thing

any ideas for names are apreciated, and powers for the girl one, thanks

That's pretty neat. I quite like the cartoony art style.

I see that the girl is using a phone, so maybe something around that?

its actually an ipod, it was originally a phone, so dont think your going mad or anything. but i was thinking phone attacks too, but i thought up some cool music based attacks, its not complete though, ill post it when it is. and thanks for the compliments

Music-based attacks could work. Make her a musical genius or something, so you can pull out guitars/keyboards etc. at will. XD

First of all, I'm IMMENSELY sorry i haven't been on here lately (which is bad for me a little, but good for my game) but I've been workin on the game a good amount, plus school's taking up a shitload of time too, but thankfully football season is coming to a close, so i should have more time to work on the game. Major update, I'm probably gonna nix slope detedction for this game, maybe for the sequel, when I'm more experienced, I can figure it out (without it being too buggy). But anyway, I'll try to keep anyone who's interested in the loop. I'm not gonna post all the animation/level design crap yet, but eventually (once enough of the stuff is done) I'll make some gameplay videos and crap, but til then, I'll just show off an animation, tell me what you think I don't know how to emb a swf so here's a link http://www.truploader.com/view/453807

You can't embed swf's here so don't bother trying. =)
That's a very nice animation, even though he looks like he might be running a little too fast to be directly usable in the game, but that's up to you of course.

Might be good for cutscenes though. :S

I suggest making a sauntering animation, AKA a cool dude walk.

Wait, do you guys mean the animation's not fluid enough, or he's just running too fast?

Also, I'm trying to code the movement, but whenever i try to use a hitTest on a movieclip in a movieclip, it won't work. Any suggestions/solutions?
Example. When i try to implement a hitTest for gravity, it won't detect the ground.

PS. I don't really know if this is actually hard or not, but this is my first game, so don't get mad at me or talk crap if it is... please...

HitTesting for ground:

while(_root.ground.hitTest(this._x, this._y, true)) {
this._y--;
}

The dude runs too fast. It's fluid enough.

Actually, I really like you animation style, my only comment here is that it seems like the guy isn't running fast enough. a few too many frames in certain places.

@PencilMaster: well, since it was 6 months back, and assuming that he continued to work on it, you'd think that hes got a base to the game, like a level perhaps? well then again, i have never really made a game, so im not sure how far it is.

This signature requires LEVEL 4 CLEARANCE, which you OBVIOUSLY dont have. Have a nice day.
