We have gone off-topic here way too fast already. WJUK will be livid.
Who cares 'bout WJUK?
He doesn't make updates every fifth second so we need to go off-topic to make this thread live.
Indeed. This is only for the good of WJUK and his topic.
We are just waiting for a update.
...Waiting...
C'mon WJUK! We need you!
This topic had four posts when I went to bed and now it has 26?
WJUK really needs to ad a LOT of commands...
That's why I said to write out everything you type in, to show what the average person would try to type in.
Demons are in front of you....call WJUK.
He should replace "I don't understand Blank". With "You can't Blank".
Read the letter.
Look back at the demons. (NW)
Walk away (NW)
"Go back" kills me.
Somehow when I restart and change the name, it doesn't register. I think the game saves too much that has been written. And it somehow copy it back in.
All right, I think I am going to add the suggestions thing, which should help in people progressing. And a lot of things lead to death due to me being lazy (I have to create another form for each path).
Any other suggestions? Oh and that error you get is probably because there is nothing after those parts.
Oh and DS, I'll look into that.
[EDIT]Oh, I'm glad the edit button is still here, but Nyubis don't type in select for the Konami code.
@WJUK: Ty
Will you try the keyword system I metioned?
I contemplated it, but it would be pretty hard to code. The way I do it now is rather simple, which is good if I'm going to make several hundred of these forms, but the way you suggested would require me to create several loops to break up each command into it's words by looking for the spaces. Then have enough variables to be able to hold all of these words (if someone decides to post some utter random crap, it'd probably break it). Then have a loop to match the word to each of the pre-defined words; then have that inside another loop to cycle through all the words from that command.
So, yea, it'd be too complex for me to handle. XD
I feel just putting in the suggestions for people to use would be easier.
Hmm. You should enable one-(key)word commands too. But it's mostly like that now.
Though a "read" command would've been nice. Also, attack and fight would be convenient.
There are one-word commands, the problem is I have to think of them. So if I don't have a command, that you think should work, I just haven't thought of it to code in.
Ok, here's the latest version. The file is 68KB.
*Added the suggested commands thing, so it'll be easier for people to get through it now (although still expect to die quite a bit)
*Thought I'd just show you what kind of secret commands I have on the first form
*Progressed a little bit in the story (not much)
I currently have about 10 forms (basically pages - some aren't even finished) and my code is 14 pages long. XD
The loading of a killer command still appears, but this build rules!
Get a new uploader, I can't wait 90 seconds...
Nice job with the game. I got pretty far, once I got past the constant dying. How did I die from a cardboard cutout?
Make a website at Zymic and upload the files there. There is no need to make a fancy website (like I did), just upload the files and maybe make an index.html.
Or you can just MegaUpload. That works as well.
Is there any space limit at Zymic?
6000mb...
And you can have 50gb's of bandwidth!
FREE!
Don't you have to wait 60 seconds on MU? It's the same with RS too, I recall.
I'll check out Zymic.
Oh and VG, that's great news. Just what I wanted to hear, it's much easier to progress now with the suggested commands. The cardboard cut-out thing was just random, but you still died at it.
[EDIT]Just tried out Zymic, and it's good. One problem, I can't upload .exe files. XD
I can't be asked to zip/rar them either because that'd just be a waste of time (they're small enough in size already).
