I tried testing something a few days ago, and it said my css < link href="" / > was invalid.

Document type does not allow < link > here.
It's in the header. Where the hell else am I supposed to put it????

Right, that's the code I used.

I eventually realized that I got the error because I put the < link > below the < meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" / >, which apparently has to be the last thing in the header.
