I had to jump down on it, then run up and kick it in mid-air.. That was hard!

Yeah, that was a pretty hard one. Like I said, it took me a half hour.
Here's a really weird snailshell glitch:
I was in the spot for your new challenge, but I accidentally pushed the shell into the pipe.

I got that glitch too. First i pushed into the tube. Then i wanted to check out what happened when i rolled in there. Result:

I was playing around with the shell in Level 6. I actually got the shell all the way back to the beginning. Except I couldn't get FPM back there, so I couldn't take a screenshot 
It actually wasn't that hard. Try it.

You just kicked it over the column? I did, too, but it just landed on the other side of the column. Should probably have kicked harder.
Not a snailshell, but a spider.
Not photoshopped, I first kicked the spider on the 3 little platforms on the right, the snailshell under it, launched myself in the cannon, landed while holding down, so the shell launched up, hitting the spider incredibly hard, launching it up to here.
Not luck.
Skill.

How to do? Jump on it, and rebounce backwards, so you always keep the spider on-screen. That will prevent the 'disappear from the universe'-glitch.
