I'm sure you've never met Hilary Clinton, up close and personal. But meh, you probably would be right.

I love discussing religion. Basically, by "discussing religion" I honestly end up bashing it, because I really dislike that whole buisiness.
First: The existence of an omnipotent benevolent and intelligent being is a logical impossiblity. The existence of suffering and evil (or, as some folks like to call it "absence of good") proves that, because should there be such being these would not exist. He wouldn't allow it. People generally use the "God gave us freedom" argument, but that is a very weak argument, when you consider the freedom of those children who are born fated to starve do death.
Then there is the "Nothingness after death" argument: Well, ceasing to exist sure seems sort of underwhelming considering all we have been through, but that fact it's "bad" doesn't mean it may not be the truth. Besides that's exactly where you were before being born, I think it does make sense it's where you go back to. (And also considering your brain decomposes...)
Now to the "Who created the world" argument: If you say that a god had to be there first, then who created that god? You can assume that he as always been there, but then why can't that be simply applied to the universe itself? Because the universe you can se and be pretty sure is real, but the existence of god relies just in your faith. And believing something doesn't make it real. It is even more arrogant, I'd say, to believe that the creator of the world made youto his resemblance.
Also, I am not sure to what extent you believe in the biblical stories, but the whole "born from a virgin", "ressurection"... You'd really need some very good proof to believe that sort of stuff, right? In my opinion, the 2000 year old book is just not good enough. What even leads you to think that THAT is the one that is right and not, say, the Qur’an?
I think religion might have made some sense back when people looked at the sky and could have no idea what those shining dots were, but now we can even create matter from energy! We know what that stuff is! And you can see that we learn new things every day. Every single day there is something more we are able to explain, then why rely on myths? Sure you may not know the answer to many questions but science is great and it works exactly because people admit that they don't know (instead of sticking an answer like "First there was this guy named Adam...") and then try to find the answers through experiment!
Besides, the creation of religion was very convenient at its time because it allowed some people to explore the others' igonrance through fear. Like... "There is this great all powerful being that created us all and watches over us. See that volcano? He will send you down there if you do bad stuff... And I am here to represent him." Well, when people have no idea what the world is like, they can belive anything. And religion was indeed used to control people and justify atrocities many times in history. Many killed "in the name of god".
I could go on and on, but I think that if you think of the world the way it is and considering what science has given us, what humanity managed to accomplish... You don't need to put a god there for it to make sense. I'd just like to end this post with this link: http://xkcd.com/154/ (I love that webcomic xD)
EDIT: Wow, the post ended up bigger than I was expecting...

Notice how there are no lies in science because there are no solid truths either! Science is proud to correct itself everytime. Unlike religion, who still reads the old book.
On an off-topic note, that graph reminds me of a funny quote: 80% of the statistics are made up on the spot.

Yeah. Instead of saying: All bananas are yellow. They say: Some bananas are yellow. Or: All bananas we know of are yellow.
Whatever happens the last two are "always" right.

I like it. Except the science graph is missing a very important slice (should be at least 25%): time wasted spent bashing religion

That is not true.

We only spend 10% of our time hating stupid religion.

Do you mind telling us why?
I mean, there is no point in having a discussion if you just state your point of view without backing it up.
