Serious "Connection Unsuccessful"

I dunno if this is the right post but...I'll try to get this right.

PAST: Anyways,it didnt started until 3 days ago,where i was thinking of getting COMODO Internet Sercurity,from the use of Panda Cloud Anti-Virus.(I used to use COMODO Internet Sercurity also.)And then,once COMODO is finshed.I saw the extra word "Preminim",and i seen that was weird but oh well.Ok so it said i have to update the virus definition,so i did,but then suddenly,it said failed.It says i have a connection problem,but i went to the Browser and saw there was no situation.Until then,i kept retrying,but nothing happens.So i restarted my laptop.(I also forgot to tell you i have a Compaw Laptop,Vista 32-bit.)And so i did it many times and still doesnt work,so then i must've overheat my laptop again,so i let it be for 2 straight days,during that time i played the Wii.

BEFORE PAST: From what i did before i went to Nintendo Channel on my Wii,and saw some videos,but then suddenly the video freezes alot,unusually that doesn't happen at all.So i unplug some random plug-in from the access point and replug it,still,the same thing.So i exited the Wii and played SSBB,from what my brothers would play often.

PRESENT: Ok so 2 days had past,i turned on my Compaq and somehow the Battery Indicator has disappeared in the Taskbar.Oddly,i can;t track the battry now,and somehow,NOW i cannot go to the Internet,i told my dad and somehow he doesn't know what to do,his laptop connection works fine and the Wii's connection is slow but okay.

And thats usually not the end,my android phone connection semms working fine.So it's just me,the only problem.So i disconnected and re-connected,still,so i restarted and did the disconnectiona and reconnect but still!

Not just i can't update my anti-virus,i cannot go to the internet!

WHAT I HAVE:
3 computers,mine,dads,and an old desktop that looks like combined to the room "Master of Computers".It's just my computer Compaq laptop won't connect.My dad's used his for collage,getting his Master Degree and such.The sektop is a old one that is now slightly fast,it's a Windows XP 400.
And that's about it.
I also got the anti-virus COMODO at http://www.comodo.com

So...Any solution?

EDIT/ADITIONAL DETAILS: COMODO is NOT a fake anti-virus,even my system responds to it,it's just out-of-date of the virus definitions.

OTHER ADDITIONAL DETAILS: How did i get this topic posted? I obviously used the desktop.Just spitting the answer out. =)

I'm not a computer expert (in fact I know barely nothing about them) but a litle bit of trial and error won't hurt:

Well, stupid stuff first: check your connection. Check the little internet-connection thingy that laptops have (cause I have no idea how laptops work), and if it's plugged in and doesn't work, try getting a new one.
Uninstall Comodo? If that doesn't work, uninstall everything that you previously installed since before the overheat? Finally, use System Restore to an earlier point?

Does your computer work? Try accessing all of the drives to see if the overheat burnt anything. What does the Wii have to do with anything? I'm a poor n00b without any external gaming systems >_>

Exactly how many times did you restart your laptop? Check your battery (can you?) in the laptop to see if that died. If it did, replace it...? Iunno.

Finally your best bet would probably be to google around, search other forums, hire a computer expert, and finally, just ship it out to whatever company made it assuming you still have warranty. If you don't... ship it out for repairs anyhow. Why don't you just use your desktop anyways?

First, on most laptops there is a button (or switch or something) that controls Wi-Fi connection. Make sure that is on.

If all else fails, turn off comodo and try. Maybe you missed when Comodo detected a new network and disallowed the computer from connecting to it.

As for the connection thing disappearing, did it disappear completely? So clicking the arrow doesn't show it?

In theory, if your dad is able to connect, so can you. Make sure Wi-Fi is on and try. If not, turn Comodo off and try again. I'm not too techy with computers, but common knowledge might help.

Ok,so i done all that.I even uninstalled COMODO,doesn't work.
I even did system restore,doesn't work.
I even restarted many times.

OK,so now i AM connected,but then i only have LIMITED ACCESS. I didn't touch anything from the computer.

I cannot connect but my dad and stuff can.It's just my laptop.

I even tried creating an access point,it failed though...

Even so,i even went to Wi-fi settings,It shows this:

My Computer----- ! ---- Wi-Fi ---- X ----- Internet

Yep,no access=no wi-fi=no internet. There's a fixer thing that diangone problems,which all of them failed.

Somehow,i'm gonna go to a different wi-fi tomorrow,if it got access,it's just the connection,if it cannot,it's just my computer.

Alright, that probably means something's wrong with the connection between your Computer and the Wi-Fi... (don't thank me, thank Mr. Obvious)

So yeah, go to a different wi-fi and see what happens. If all else fails, a hammer can be useful.

Did you ask your old man if he can be of any assistance? If not, do so now. So tomorrow, change the Wi-Fi, give us your result, and we'll see what happens. If the problem persists, it's probably your laptop.

Connected to Wi-Fi but not the internet? Hm...

That's interesting.

Check if you're actually on the network with other computers (e.g. your dad's computer) by seeing if you can access/ping them.

Oh, oh, oh. I know this. This happened to me just a couple of months ago. If you go to your routers file symbol thing, and right click then "View device webpage" there might be some disconnect and connect options. See what clicking those buttons will do.

Hmmm,so it IS just the wi-fi,my dad's gonna contact Time Warner Cabel.

Alright, so you've established that your Wi-Fi is fine. Since your dad can connect. Your computer is also fine, since you can connect to other Wi-Fi hotspots.

The only plausible explanation left is you've somehow blocked yourself either on your router or your PC has blocked connecting to the network.

Also try shutting off the router for 30 seconds and restarting it. You never know, it might work.
