Movie
http://www.cbc.ca/clips/mov/roussy-gaming081021.mov -(needs QuickTime player). A 15 year old boy in Ontario ran away after his parents confiscated his XBOX 360 because he was playing too much Call Of Duty 4 (i.e. every waking hour of the day). He still hasn't been found. I found it a real eye opener.

Did you know MS Canada have forked out some more money to the reward for any information about his disappearance. Apparently, police are looking at XBL at who he played... that's gonna be a scare for some people when police come knocking at the door.

I would say so. I mean, some random person is playing the same game with him on XBL, knows nothing about him, and the police come and start asking all the questions.
It's really sad when you hear about one of these obsessed with video games stories on the news. But this is much more extreme than anything I've ever heard.

He probably ran outside and the sun burned his retinas clean off.
Now he's at a subway station somewhere shaking his hands and making gun noises. Shouldn't be too hard to find him...

Maybe we should just let him be. It was his fault for being a complete idiot.

That is a pretty stupid thing to run away for.

A human life is more valuable than any game console on Microsoft Profit Margin. I think when video game addiction goes this far, we need to rethink what's going on.

that kid has issues, it has to be about something else

Obviously, if he ran away because of a lack of XBOX, he isn't 100% in the head.
No offense to anyone here.

It's finally over. --> http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/11/08/crisp.html It's been a big couple of weeks for his family and gamers across Canada. I also heard that he watched a lot of reality TV survival shows like Man vs. Wild and Survivor Man. I guess he thought he could stick it out overnight but he was obviously wrong. He didn't even bring a jacket even though it was the middle of November.

poor kid
.... How old was he
EDIT:He was my age, there was no way he would run away just because of XBOX
the likely hood of the reason being...
XBOX:19%
To try to ruff it out:31%
Other:50%Maybe he just needed time to clear his head and hung out in a tree, but fell

Apparently he had a pretty bad addiction to the XBox and XBL... kinda depressing. That was the reasons why his parents took away his XBox - they were doing the right thing as well... *sigh*

Now, because of this incident, there's a new problem emerging. Parents are afraid to punish their kids, who may well have serious gaming problems, because they're afraid their kids might run away and get themselves, hurt, kidnapped, or killed. We really need to figure out a good, way to prevent the gaming addiction-linked incidents. Maybe a rehab for gamers. A place where they can chill out, chat or read some books and study.

I recall there being a timeout feature on the consoles (can't remember where though) so maybe they can only play for a few hours max a day.
Posted 3 years ago # -
That seems like a good idea, and something every game console should have, but the kids would just change it to like 25 hours a day and play without limitations.
