You are not using vcam right? Oh yeah, before trying to figure out slope detection I suggest adding more game-play elements like power-ups or attacking if possible. Slope detection takes up too much time.
EDIT:
Hint for slope detection: I find the difference of 2 points' y axis using Math.atan2 ;D

yeah actually im working on the game I want to add more elements but I can't think of any haha. I'm mindblocked.

hmm... ideas you want right?

I'd love to see some original enemy characters involved, and attack moves. Redligots attack move is pretty original i guess (a clay sword for ACG with a cool tip) so maybe a... doublesided sword, one half lightsaber one have sword.

i dunno, its yours to choose though. Obviously.

The accel is really odd, or perhaps that's because of the camera, I don't know. The jump is too high I think, make it 3/4 of what it is now.

yeah well I still need to adjust the jump thanks for the suggestion coolnesiac. i'll work on it tomorrow. i gotta sleep. haha. anyway, i am currently making gauntlets for the character now that turns into fists when the "attack" button is pressed. Is that cool? I really want a unique gameplay for my first game

Game looks good and very smooth. I'm not sure on all the 'sliding' though. It seems to lack control, so I'd suggest having the sliding as a feature rather than the norm.

Other things that can be improved include adding animations for accelerating, currently it looks like you have one constant 'running' animation regardless of the speed you're travelling at.

haha thanks for the suggestions. maybe ill work on the acceleration after adding the gauntlets ) ill put up the swf file of my character with the gauntlets after a few minutes or so. But i think i want to keep the sliding thing maybe i can use it as a challenge

another update again haha. this time you can control the fist with your mouse. again E to activate gauntlet and Q to place gauntlet on mouse.
