What do you mean?
Brad could make the file hidden and then when FairlyObvious is sleeping, turn on the computer and start coding the secret! =)
But.. could you explain what a tilebased game means?
WJUK, its the tilebased game.
...and probably a bunch of other secrets
I'm presuming tile-based game is basically where the screen is in tiles and the player can move between the tiles. Think of something like the original SimCity or the Civilization series. Sorta like those tiles, right?
Apparently Brad has a load of ideas and has started a bunch of projects, most of which we don't even know about (and he has probably forgot about). I recall he mentioned he had worked on a Brawling game and some other stuff in one of the videos. FO probably knows all about these games. Heck, Brad probably makes something interesting and he probably shows FO first.
He means tiles like in the 2d Zelda's. Good explanation here --> http://www.tonypa.pri.ee/tbw/tut00.html
Just think of a tile as a piece of the ground, you put them all together to get the level. imagine this is a tile _ Now just put a bunch side by side to get a level ___________ with tiles though, you could probably place them in different places so you could do something like this...

I know that was probably way more explanation than was needed, I just felt like making that
aww, I had a cool thing made, but the spaces are removed
guess that kinda explains it too :/
Yea, that's a better game to show it actually. The old-skool 2D Zelda games.
Or the Shift games, right? Except side scrolling?
(I guess SMW would be a good example of this)
Doesnt this explain it?

Yeah, that pretty much covers it.
The FPA series isn't tile-based. That uses vectors, which are basically one large tile for the whole level. I think Brad was talking about a different game with the tile stuff.
Yeah, tiles make it possible to make a lighter game and the level-editing is much easier.
I have a project too...
It´s a flash-game and the reward for inspiring me goes to Brad Borne. Flash is beautiful when done properly(im not just talking about graphics, im talking about the engine too)
I've seen some hella-impressive stuff done in Flash. Accurate pseudo-physics with 2D models and such (it's a tech demo), I've even seen some impressive 3D animation utilized in Flash.
It's such a diverse platform.
hmmm............
a secret.............
makes me wonder......
what is it?!?!?!
Hey WJUK, did your little gamercard in your sig change? It looks like there's an avatar on it.
Yea, I decided to change it.
i wish i can do that with my gamercard...........
