My story:-
Synopsis:
What if the world,as we know it,was really nothing but an illusion? What if,when we stop accepting the appearances around us as reality, they cease to be reality? Join Daniel Owens,an unassuming, regular 13-year old,who is about to get his perspective of the world turned around 180 degrees in his journey which starts when he meets John Adams,a mysterious guy who seems to have the keys to the Universe in his back pocket and continually insists that everyone else does too, only that they've tied their own hands with the ropes of illusions and that once they remember that the ropes are their own creation, they'll melt before their very eyes, showing them that they had been free all the time,it was only a matter of realising it.
Here's an excerpt:
"So,really? I mean, take this wall for example,"He spoke while tapping the white-washed wall in front of him,"You're trying to say that this wall is an illusion created by me and that the moment I stop taking it as my reality,it'll cease to be so?"He shot an incredulous look towards John.
"You hit the nail on the head,i'll give you an example, have you ever seen a hypnotist perform? Have you seen the way the subject thinks he is helplessly trapped in a cellar just by the sheer power of the hypnotist's suggestion while all the audience can see is an empty stage? Now expand that stage to the whole world, and there you have the explanation for life."
"But why would people hypnotise themselves into thinking they're helpless, sad, angry, irritated,or just generally worthless?"
I was planning to expand this into a 50,000 word novel, I wrote the part till the excerpt but I don't know where to take it from there. Anybody got any ideas?
