I’m glad to see FPA is still alive, as well as you, after all of these years playing wonderful flash games that now seem nostalgic. :pants: 🙂
Also, in World 1 Remix, if you enter fancy key rooms and exit immediately, it does this: http://i.imgur.com/1M3PZJm.png
The screen stays locked, so Fancy Pants Man can’t be seen again if you move offscreen.
I don’t think the camera lock glitch is just limited to key doors. I’ve seen it other places, too.
I would love to see more parkour in future worlds– like the Wall Run in world 3. I had a lot of fun with that 😛
Even so, the FPA formula is fine plain as well. I really loved playing the W1 remix, and that was… Well, a remix of world 1, the original. So yeah, more parkour is awesome, but the generic “FPA feel” is fine too 😀
Atmospheric or gameplay wise?
Both. I’m a sucker for nostalgia, so… Yeah… But even so, the new levels’ atmosphere was really cool– and really mysterious.
And everything was smooth gameplay-wise. It goes to show that you don’t need to be complex to be a great platformer. Complexity is great too, of course… So… Idk lol
I guess what I’m trying to say is that the W1 remix is great as a simple platformer to bring nostalgia, but I feel that W4 should build on the FPA formula instead of going back to basics– that’s what the remix is for.
The more mobility options the better “obvious” or not but if I had to pick one I’d choose obvious.
cause I don’t want to have 30 new moves I ether suck at doing, don’t use or forget you could do it.
(but unique movement is always welcome!)
You could always button mash like me.
Brad – Are you even trying to do a certain move?
Me – SHUT UP I KNOW WHAT IM DOING!
A certain speedrunning technique in the W1 Remix (the pencil slide boost) requires the player to press four buttons at the exact same moment… 😉
I think that having levels that are harder to maneuver around would bring an interesting aspect.
I agree. Secret areas that are hard to get to are one of my favorite things about FPA 😀
I always really loved the way you can smoothly run through the worlds with all types of different jumps. Adding more parkour could be awesome! I actually started playing fancy pants man because of the 2d mirror’s edge game.
It would be cool if you added a rolling landing. Like when the character lands from a long fall he would hit the ground and roll, I think it would add a cool sense of impact.
This. I’ve been thinking about this since world 3. Like if he lands without pressing the down arrow to slide he would just roll, or even crack the surface
Yes. Tottaly agree with that :woot:
I feel like the balance reached with World 3 was pretty great. As long as it fits with the rest of the game, additional movement options are always a plus.
I think you should make fancy pants to do a double back flip or even a triple back flip, make him still move like a ninja but add more skill at what he can do. :fpm:
Better integration of the “duck’n’roll” mechanic would be nice…
Can this game even become more parkour? Haha. Well, the one thing I can think of, you seem to already be adding, which is the Mirror’s Edge-like wall running (which I’m too excited to test).
And just an unrelated comment, but last time I checked your previous games still couldn’t run because of that flash problem.. it could have changed by now but, just to make sure, plase make sure your game will be playable in some way, for everyone’s good. :woot:
I say do both. Take some moves from other games (as long as they stick to the style of FPA. As much as I love Sonic, I’d hate to see a spindash type of thing in here. :P) but keep doing your own thing, too. I agreed with Auad when he said you should put in the Mirror’s Edge 2D wall-running thing. That was awesome 😀 I think a must for World 4 is to bring back the wall run/climb thing we saw in World 3, and some of the sword moves. I play World 3 more than anything else you’ve made simply for that reason. (Lol also update WordPress on the site here) :woot:
I do want to see running like that in World 4, though you can save that for W5/W2 Remix if you want! But it seems sort of like spiders are getting a revamp? Or is he just jealous of Fancy Pants Man :fpm: doing cool things that spiders can’t do? 😆
One thing I would definitely like to see is the move shown in the artwork (ie a dash vault) because at the moment jumping is (sometimes) too slow for me, and having Fancy just vault over something and keep running would just be perfect. Maybe we could also get some new pencil mechanics such as drawing? :woot:
I hear that the teleportation boxes work like this, the faster you go in, the farther you come out. Plus, for the parkour, let’s talk about the rails. If you landed on a rail, Fancy Pants should slide down it, but if he jumped to it from the bottom, then he should grab onto it and ride down it like a wire! 😉 :woot: :pants:
